Quality Kosher Catering is located in Southfield, Michigan, near Detroit. We are internationally recognized as a quality catering company, and an internationally respected rabbinical organization, Star-K, provides our kashrut supervision.

We are a "go anywhere, do anything" kind of a company: We have the capacity, the equipment, and the willingness to come to your location for your party. We are innovative and creative in our food selection, presentation, and service. Most of all, Quality Kosher Catering is people -- not only our clients, but a cadre of professionals working as a well-practiced team.

History

Paul Kohn's mother, Elizabeth (known as Etta), was a renowned kosher caterer. She founded Royal Kosher Catering in 1966. Her trademark was delicious kosher food with a homemade flavor and character. Her flagging commitment to the highest quality food and service left an indelible mark on her son. To this day, he says, she is the benchmark by which he judges his business's success. Etta made every effort to seek out the best food and freshest ingredients, and Quality Kosher Catering has steadfastly taken that culture to heart.

Paul launched Quality Kosher Catering on May 15, 1978, with his mother. Three years later, he relocated his business to Shaarey Zedek and has been its resident caterer ever since. Today, we have the capacity to serve 1,600 people at our home base as well as at numerous off-premise locations. We operate with a full-time staff of about 15 dedicated individuals and our part-time staff can swell to over 100 people.

Philosophy

To those who profess that being a kosher caterer could be an obstacle to innovative cuisine and exceptional service, Paul Kohn says, "Come celebrate your event with us and we will change your mind." In fact, he considers being a kosher caterer a privilege and an opportunity to exceed his clients' expectations.

The Team

The team at Quality Kosher Catering is what makes everything special. Each brings a commitment to service, integrity, ethical standards, caring, professionalism, and a sense of community to the mix. Working as an extended family, each member provides skills that turn each client's priorities into realities.

Paul Kohn is a respected and active member of the community. Educated at Wayne State University, he had a successful career as a biology and chemistry teacher prior to his catering career. The time and effort he devotes to Quality Kosher Catering is a testament to his commitment to his staff and clientele and his single-minded focus on the success of each event.

Patricia Paterni, director of sales and catering, has been a key person with Quality Kosher Catering for over 20 years. She is involved in marketing and sales. With her organizational skills, she handles any challenge with ease and grace.

Executive Chef Michael Miller has been with Quality Kosher Catering for over 15 years. He seeks out signature, flavorful, and attractive foods to ensure that the results are pleasing to both the palate and the eye. Being a kosher chef on a world class level is a responsibility and a challenge Chef Michael loves to meet.

Sanford Singal is the sales & office manager and event coordinator. His personal mission is to make each client's event a success. Creating an almost instant rapport with the client is one of his many talents.

Donnell Smith, the chief steward, had been part of the team for over 15 years. A loyal and devoted leader of his staff, he consistently ensures each event is prepared for and ready to succeed.
